Earlier First Lady Hilliary Clinton Becomes An Aim of Spyware Con

By: Isaiah Henry

No, even former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, is not immune from dangerous Malware scams. Youd think the Senator from New Yorks staff would be computer savvy enough to avoid attack of the Malware, but it seems they are not. According to Symantec, Mrs. Clinton is only the most recent target of Malware. Millions of everyday people run the risk of intercepting this type of malicious and annoying scam.

Malware is a combination of two words --- malicious and software. And, in this case, the name says it all. Malware is computer software or a computer code that is installed onto the computers of unknowing and unsuspecting computer users. Some people refer to malware as a computer virus; that is not accurate, actually. While malware can contain computer viruses, it may also contain other intrusive components like adware, spyware and spam.

Most people dont even know what the term malware means, so how can they be expected to adequately protect their computer and files from it? Malware is a type of computer program or computer code which is developed solely to produce annoying pop-up ads, innumerable amounts of spam and disseminate adware and spyware. Whats more, it can be dangerous to the entire operating system.

The way the malware was able to operate in the Hillary Clinton email was like this: After opening the email, people around the globe were directed to click on a link. The link was set up to look like a Google search page and, thereby, mislead people. The link allowed the malware scam to install itself onto every computer who had accessed it. Once installed on the computer, the malware can run rampant causing annoyance, irritation and danger to the computer itself.

Here is how Malware works: Recipients of Clintons email open it and then are directed to click on a link. The link looks like a Google search page; it isnt. Instead, it is the Malware scam installing itself onto the recipients computer operating system. This link downloads a suspect file, mpg.exe, which is a Trojan downloader reports K. Conley, Symantec researcher. This downloader downloads a file, inst241.exe, which is detected as Trojan.Srizbi.

The Malware scam begins its dirty work as soon as it enters into the computer users system. The computer operator is immediately bombarded by massive quantities of spam. This is annoying and dangerous, no doubt, but brings with it another danger most people are not aware of. This type of activity may be the cause of the users IP address being added to a blacklist once this occurs, it is nearly impossible to reverse the action which has such negative impact.

Investing in security software for your computer is worth doing. The other thing computer users can do is to exercise caution, particularly when opening email. If possible, do not open ANY email that comes from an unknown source. While nothing is foolproof just yet, doing these two things will greatly enhance your chances of avoiding an attack of a malware scam.
