By: Laura Stockwell

The LH normally shows up in a limited amount, but increases greatly mid-menstrual cycle. Luteinizing Hormone is excreted by the pituitary gland in a large amount at that point in the cycle. The increase will stay at a high level for a few days during which the majority of women are probable to ovulate. Early during the increase, the Luteinizing Hormone is seen in the blood and hours later shows up in the urine.

Determining Ovulation

There is a complete kit for testing Luteinizing Hormone which tries to figure out highest point of fertility and the ovulation point. These kits allow a woman to pinpoint the moment the odds are highest to get pregnant. The test will display when the Luteinizing Hormone increase is occurring, showing ovulation potential. The kit works by finding the amount of LH in a woman's urine, which in-turn shows ovulation will happen next 1-2 days.

When the test results positive, it means that there is enough level of LH surge, which indicates to ovulate. You now know that ovulation begins within 2-3 days. All women don't ovulate mid-cycle.
